How do I enroll on ASTEP?

By submitting the information/document through this link, you can be registered as an exemption buyer for sales tax purposes after Alibaba.com conducts necessary verifications of information provided during enrollment.

Or you could follow below manul steps:

1.Please log into your Alibaba.com. account and click on 'My Alibaba'.

 

2. Click on the ‘Orders’ to go to 'Tax Information', Click 'Add or modify tax exemption'

 

 

 

3. Click on check box once you fully agree on ‘Terms and conditions’ and click ‘Submit or adjust your application' to start enrollment process.

4. Select one appropriate state and click 'Continue'.

 

5. Based on the jurisdiction you selected，you can choose one appropriate qualification to continue. You can apply for a sales tax exemption status by a. submitting related documentsor b. answering questionnaire depending on the tax regulations of each jurisdiction.

For 'submitting related documents'
6. Click 'Upload' to provide sales tax exemption document.
Tips: We accept up to 5 files. Each file size must be less than 4MB. PDF, JPG, GIF and PNG are acceptable formats.

 

 

7. Click 'Submit' to finish the enrollment.

 

 

For 'answering questionnaire '
8. Please provide detailed company information and click 'Continue'.

 

 

9.Select an appropriate exemption and business type based on your actual circumstance.

 

10. Please base on the questionnaire to provide detailed information, and click 'Continue'to go to next step.

11. Review and click 'Continue' to sign off page.  Sign your exemption certificate and click "Continue" to go to next page.

 

 

 

12. A PDF document will be automatically generated after submission. You can download the PDF for final confirmation, and click 'Submit' to complete the enrollment.

 

13. Click ‘Return to home page’ to go to management page for exemptions records. You can check all on going, active or expired cases under the 'My Applications' .
Tips: You can use selector to narrow down the result.
Selector: State(s), Exemption Type,Exemption Status

 

 

Exemption Statusindicator:

Pending sign-off: This application is awaiting your review and sign-off.
Received: This application has been received and will be reviewed soon.
Reviewing: This application is under review.
Verified: This tax exemption is valid for the effective time period.
Expired: This tax exemption is expired.
Invalid: This application has been rejected or is duplicated.

Effective Time and Expiration Time indicatethe expiration of each qualifications. (This time is displayed according to Pacific Time zone)

Download and Modify button:
Download – download a PDF format of the each application
Modify – to edit application.
